Overview

MachineGames is looking for a new VFX Artist to join our team to help us bring life to our new exciting AAA project! 

 

Our studio is located in central Uppsala, Sweden which is a small and vibrant city 40 minutes north of Stockholm with a historical heritage reaching back to pre-medieval times. 

 

In this position you will be working in a tight-knit department under the supervision of our Technical Lead and our Art Director and you will collaborate in cross-functional teams on a daily basis.

This is a permanent position starting as soon as possible. We will support your relocation and/or application for a work permit if you have a non-EU passport and/or not currently residing in Sweden.

Responsibilities

  • Create optimized visual effects for real time rendering.
  • Create realistic effects for environments and gameplay (weather, explosions, muzzle flashes, decals etc.) in collaboration with Gameplay Designers and Programmers.
  • Collaborate with Art Director on the visual style of all effects in the game, through verbal and written communication, concepts or reference images/videos.
  • Identify need for effects in collaboration with environment artists and gameplay designers in the different production units.
  • Create certain light and camera/lens effects.
  • Collaborate with programmers to further develop pipelines and tools.

Qualifications

  • Relevant 2D and 3D software experience; Houdini, Maya, 3DSMax, Substance Designer, After Effects, Photoshop, Embergen or similar.
  • You understand and operate within given technical constraints.
  • Good understanding of form, timing, weight and color when creating effects.
  • Demonstrates a deep understanding of console pipeline, workflows and capabilities.
  • 3 year game development experience and/or at least one shipped AAA game production.
  • Must provide a portfolio relevant to the position for review.
