Overview

ZeniMax Online Studios is seeking smart, motivated, and enthusiastic interns for a variety of roles on our Art, Animation, and Technical Art teams. This is an incredible opportunity to learn from a successful team of industry veterans. To be considered, candidates should have a strong educational background demonstrated in an exemplary portfolio of work and a serious willingness to learn.

 

*Must be available for a full-time internship for a 3-month period.*

Responsibilities

Concept Art

Collaborate with our Art and Design teams to create high quality creative concept art that support our studio’s projects.

Responsibilities

• You will be assigned challenging and meaningful concept art tasks and are expected to show initiative in identifying and solving design problems
• Work within the established art style, learn and adhere to established workflow (thumbnail sketches, idea refinement, rendering & polish), and meet assignment deadlines and goals
• Collaborate with others on cross-discipline teams, as necessary

 

Qualifications
• Must have a degree in Art, or currently enrolled in a university Art program
• Exemplary portfolio that demonstrates a good understanding of anatomy, perspective, color theory, composition, and design aesthetics
• Strong Photoshop skills, or similar drawing/painting program, with an emphasis on detailed and realistic rendering techniques
• Ability to communicate with good verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrate an eagerness and ability to learn and grow as a concept artist

 


 

3D Art (Environment and Character)

Collaborate with our Art and Design teams to create high quality environment or character art for our games.

Responsibilities

• Translate concept art into finished game-ready environment or character assets that match the style of our game, meeting assignment deadlines and goals
• Develop your modeling and texturing skills for organic and hard surface models
• Learn the technical pipeline and how to set up assets for our engine, adhering to performance metrics criteria

 

Qualifications
• Must have a degree in Art, or currently enrolled in a university Art program
• Portfolio of exemplary work demonstrating your education and skills
• Experience in 3ds Max or Maya, Substance Painter, Photoshop, and Zbrush
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organization skills
• Demonstrate an eagerness and ability to learn and grow

 


 

VFX Art

Collaborate with our Art and Design teams to create amazing effects that support our studio’s projects.

Responsibilities
• You will be assigned challenging and meaningful work to develop clean, highly readable VFX that support gameplay initiatives
• You will learn how to author VFX within our game engine to support animations, abilities, or content, and how to optimize particle systems for real time rendering
• You will learn how to test, debug, and solve technical problems as you work within the pipeline


Qualifications
• Must have a degree in Art/Animation (or relevant field), or currently enrolled in a university Art program
• Have a general understanding of VFX technology such as particle systems, models, and materials

• Exemplary portfolio demonstrating your skills in VFX
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organization skills
• An aptitude for learning new systems quickly
• Ability to conceptualize, present, and execute ideas
• Must have the drive to conquer technical challenges

 


 

Animation

Collaborate with our Animation and Design teams. The ideal candidate will be a passionate animator with an eye for quality and interest in gaming.

 

Responsibilities
• Work closely with Animation Leads to set up, block-in, and polish animations
• Export and maintain proprietary systems for review and iteration in game
• Test animation implementations to ensure they are functioning properly
• Create and maintain documentation for game engine animation process

 

Qualifications
• Must have a degree in Art/Animation (or relevant field), or currently enrolled in a university Animation program
• Must provide a demo reel that includes examples of current animation ability and demonstrates proficiency in animation with 3ds Max or Maya
• Shows aptitude in applying the principles of animation: anticipation, staging, posing, overlapping action, timing, exaggeration, appeal, etc.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organization skills
• Comfortable with learning new systems quickly

 


 

Technical Art

Collaborate with our Outsourcing and Art teams to handle and integrate high quality games assets for our games while also gaining work experience for a AAA game title.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Outsourcing Managers and other Technical Artists to prepare armor/costumes, and mounts/pets for export into game
• Develop your modeling and technical skills through skinning by working with a variety of rigs
• Improve problem solving abilities when presented with constraints and limitations
• Learn about the variety of pipelines that a singular asset will travel across to multiple disciplines

• Must have a degree in Art, or currently enrolled in a university Art program
• Portfolio of exemplary work demonstrating your education and skills
• Experience in 3ds Max or Maya and Photoshop
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organization skills
• Demonstrate an eagerness and ability to learn and grow
