Overview

id Software, part of the ZeniMax Media Inc. family of companies, is seeking a Senior/Principal Sound Designer to join our team in making AAA gamesThis position assumes a prominent position on the team, helps establish and optimize production pipelines, and contributes to the execution of the vision of the game in close collaboration with colleagues.       

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Audio Lead and other team members to develop all types of audio assets. 
  • Create and integrate high quality sounds for numerous settings, different types of gameplay, visual effects, and narrative events. 
  • Implement audio using proprietary and third-party tools and technology in close collaboration with game play designers, effect artists and animators. 
  • Actively learn tools, technology, and explore new features with other team members. 
  • Develop and refine systems for delivering compelling and immersive audio. 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience creating audio for games; including shipping at least one AAA title as sound designer. 
  • Ability to make high quality audio, VO editing and processing, and SFX for in-game use. 
  • Experience with postproduction and mastering audio. 
  • Excellent working knowledge of modern studio equipment and industry standard audio tools. 
  • Strong sound design & technical skills. 
  • Familiarity with a variety of audio middleware applications. 
  • Ability to interface with internal and external development teams. 
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the video game development process. 
  • Able to manage large scale audio asset production. 
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills. 
  • Outstanding work ethic and attention to detail. 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with HDR mixing. 
  • Experience designing audio to linear cinematic sequences. 
  • Experience with Max/MSP, Kyma, or other audio programming environments. 
  • Love of first person shooters. 
  • Avid gamer. 

 

Salary Range

Senior Sound Designer - The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $75,000 - $165,000 per year.

 

Principal Sound Designer - The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $90,000 - $200,000 per year.

           

ZeniMax has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. The range above reflects the potential base pay across the U.S. for this role; the applicable base pay range will depend on what ultimately is determined to be the candidate’s primary work location. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.
